Outer Hebrides Food Growing Strategy

Outer Hebrides Food Growing Strategy

Thank you for visiting the Outer Hebrides Food Growing Strategy consultation site, created by Third Sector Hebrides on behalf of Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar. The Outer Hebrides Food Growing Strategy aims to achieve our vision of an Outer Hebrides where growing is supported, ensuring nutritious, locally grown, affordable fruit and vegetables are available to all.

Third Sector Hebrides are a registered Data Controller (registration no. Z8512502), and will only use your responses for the purpose of the Food Growing Strategy, or future Food Plans if you select that option at the end of the form below.

You can view a suggested draft of the Strategic Aims, including a background to the strategy on the button on the left. The aims cover five key themes:

  • Everyone has space, facilities and equipment to grow food if they choose to
  • Markets for locally grown food are developed and supported
  • Our communities have the skills to grow, package, produce and market their own food.
  • Everyone in our community can access locally grown food, whatever their income or wherever they live
  • Our local authority and partners consider access to food growing and locally grown food in all local plans

You can access the consultation form by clicking the button on the right, where your views will be used to write the final Outer Hebrides Food Growing Strategy aims.

We want to ensure as many people as possible have their views included in the consultation.

To make this happen we will be visiting locations from the Butt to Barra. We will make sure a cuppa awaits you.

If you have a community group you would like us to visit for a more tailored session, please e-mail:  lmacleod@tshebrides.org.uk
